Story of a Break!

This poem was sent via mail by my friend, Niraj Mishra..
It connects for the simple fact that it takes us back and forth in our memory lane through childhood school -college-graduation days. Its nice, read on :)

The moment of your life when it gives you a break,
When there is no tension in life and no tests to take.

The memories of your past trace back to your present,
Old friends reappear, You remember times that were pleasant.

You decide to take a silent walk in the backyard of your school,
When life was about assemblies, breaks and Rules.

When a Star in the notebook was the biggest award,
And bunking an assembly seemed very hard.

Stealing that Samosa from the School Canteen,
Everything was loved that was a break from the Routine.

Be it the fetes, the picnics till the Farewell Time,
All the Firsts were great be it the Kiss, the 'Miss' or that sparkling Wine.

Some Rules were changed and few Ties were broken,
A new phase called College had come, And you needed Attention.

Remember the Nineties that you did with the top button closed,
In that scorching summers with Seniors laughing as you posed.

Time had come when Freedom got into your head,
Be it the Weird hairstyles or the Smoke around your bed.

Classes gave way to Labs and Pencils became tools (Engineering Guys :P),
Was easy for Girls as a Smile could bend all the rules.

We hated as the Ladies left due to the early timeouts,
But we loved what followed it i.e. the CS Nightouts.

The Labs, The Lectures, The College Canteen,
Or that Khopcha's in College where we could see the 'scenes'.

The College was over and the Farewell was done,
My father said "Now you are a Professional, Son"

From The Shirt, The Trouser and that Tie's knot
Came a thought which I had never earlier got.

On the Seventh heaven now I was honey,
Coz I had no rules to follow and a lot of money.

It was a time past then and now its back again,
When the college is over and Job is about to begin.

The moment of my life when I got a break,
When there was no tension and no tests to take.

The moment and time are about to pass,
My friends were here and I remebered the past.

The Story of my this Break is about to end,
But I am sure I'll meet you every weekend!
